About Skooter's Designs

I’m Aaron. Skooter was my black Lab, and the name just stuck with me.

Born and raised in St. Louis, I took the scenic route to needlepoint. I earned a degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, but I’ve always had a creative side that was looking for somewhere to land. In 2020, it found its place in needlepoint design.

Since then, I’ve been painting and designing, and the best part has been seeing people take something I created and make it completely their own. I put a lot of thought into the little details—fun objects, unexpected elements, and features that give each canvas character while creating opportunities to get creative with the finishing. I also love adding little nods to the things people love—preppy classics, favorite pastimes, celebrations, and cultural references that give a design a sense of place and personality.

For me, those details are what keep a design from feeling flat or predictable. I want my canvases to be fun to stitch, interesting to look at, and full of little things that give you room to make them your own.

What started as a creative outlet has grown into something much bigger, thanks to the people who have supported, stitched, shared, and cheered me on along the way. I’m incredibly grateful that something I started for fun has turned into something I get to do every day.

When I’m not designing, I’m probably watching the St. Louis Blues, playing golf, traveling, or hanging out with my Corgi and Australian Shepherd.
